Square Dances: Music, Community & Tradition

Square dances bring people together—family, friends, and neighbors—to create a strong, connected community. No experience? No partner? No problem! Every dance is taught on the spot, and everyone is welcome. The goal is simple: dance, laugh, and have fun.

Keeping the Tradition Alive

We host these dances as often as we can and are looking for a permanent home to make them a monthly tradition. We want to keep them as affordable as possible—free if we can—but venue costs and event insurance make that challenging. We do this for the love of old-time music and traditional dance parties, and any support helps keep the spirit alive.

Who’s Calling the Dance?

Our regular caller is Uncle Pete Taney, but we also love to invite guest callers. Elizabeth LaPrelle will be calling our next dance on March 1, 2025—don’t miss it!

All Ages, All Levels

Each dance is taught before the music starts, so whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned dancer, you’ll be able to jump right in. These are truly all-ages events—kids, adults, and grandparents alike are encouraged to take part!

Live Music by Burnt Mills Highballers

We provide the tunes, keeping the energy high with old-time dance music—from fast-paced barn burners to smooth waltzes. The live music and the rhythm of the dance steps make for an unforgettable night.

Come be a part of this growing tradition—Be there and dance square!
